Roads Authority (RA) has closed the M5 road following heavy rains being experience in Central region that have washed away a section of the road between Salima and Nkhotakota.

Roads Authority has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

According to the statement, efforts to repair the section of the road are currently facing challenges due to persistent rainfall.

Heavy rains have also displaced thousands of Malawians in Central region.
