A 38-year-old man in Mzimba has committed suicide at Embangweni in Chaphonya village after finding a love message on his wife’s phone.
Jenda Police Station Publicist Macfarlen Mseteka has identified the deceased as Komani Zimba.
According Mseteka, the deceased left his home for business as a motorcycle operator and returned home around 7 o’clock in the evening. Whilst checking his wife’s phone, he found a love message from another man, which did not please him.
Mseteka says this caused a heated argument with the wife whom he later severely beat up, along side his children, before they fled.
He further demolished his brick fence before villagers tied him up with a rope, but later released after he had calmed down and he went to rest in his house.
Zimba was then discovered around dawn by a passer-by, hanging from a goal post at the football pitch close to his house.
Postmortem has revealed that death was due to suffocation, and no foul play is suspected.
