LIMBE POLICE ARREST CCTV CAMERA DONOR

Police have arrested a 26-year-old Innocent Kananji for allegedly creating a fake Facebook account bearing Inspector General Merlyne Yolamu’s name.

In a twist of events this is the guy who a month and weeks ago assisted Limbe Police in Blantyre with K110 000 for the purchase of CCTV connectors to combat and prevent crime in the township.

According to Deputy National Police spokesperson Mr Harry Namwaza, Kananji duped unsuspecting youths K150 000; promising them jobs as ‘police chief’.

Further investigations established that Kananji had 13 different Facebook accounts bearing female names and pictures, which are also being investigated.

Kananji will answer a charge of cyber spamming, contrary to Section 91 of Electronic Transaction and Cyber Security Act of 2016.

After playing the ‘After the donation”in May, the suspect said as a citizen, it is was his responsibility to support the efforts of Limbe Police in ensuring public safety.
