Lilongwe city council intensifies fight against Cholera

Lilongwe City Council (LCC) said it will continue fighting against the further spread of cholera in the city.

Mayor for Lilongwe City, Richard Banda said the council is closing all business places whose owners are not taking the hygiene measures seriously.

“We have recently closed down Wakawaka market and Central Poultry Limited in area 36 due to hygiene concerns. We have also banned the selling of some readymade food stuffs in markets and bus depots,” Banda said.

According to Banda, the council has hired additional refuse equipment in an effort to clean up the city.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health Adrian Chikumbe praised the council for the good job of fighting against the outbreak and asking the stakeholders to do the same.
