Nkhotakota District Council has commended Nkhotakota North legislator Henry Chimunthu Banda for facilitating the construction of an extension planning area (EPA) office using Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Speaking on Tuesday during the commissioning of the new office at Kasitu EPA in Senior Chief Kafunzira, Nkhotakota District Council agriculture, environment and natural resources service committee chairperson Watison Mkute said the infrastructure will promote agricultural activities in the area.

He also commended community members for their commitment and participation in the implementation of the project.
“I appeal to people from Senior Chief Kafunzira and sub-traditional authorities (ST/As) Kamphambale and Katumbi to take care of the infrastructure,” he said.
Chimunthu Banda, a former Speaker of Parliament, advised authorities to always ensure they implement flagship projects that are in line with the country’s long-term development plan, the Malawi 2063 strategy.
He said providing such projects that are crucial to people’s livelihoods can go a long way in developing the country.
He said: “We have spent K32.6 million to construct a new Kasitu EPA office and procure furniture. I think as lawmakers, we need to lead in developing the country.
“We need to implement flagship projects which are crucial to communities.”
Kasitu EPA provides technical support on agricultural activities to over 20 000 farmers from Senior Chief Kafunzira and ST/As Kamphambale and Katumbi in the district.
