Legal Affairs Committee of Parliament baffled with Chizuma’s lawsuit

The Legal Affairs Committee of Parliament has said it has noted with great concern the latest lawsuit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau Director General Martha Chizuma over the issue of the leaked audio.

The committee met this morning and among other issues discuss, the committee wants the Minister of Justice to come out clearly on the issue as he told parliament that anyone who feels injured by the leaked audio could sue the DG as a civil case and not as a criminal one.

Chairperson of the committee, Peter Dimba, said the committee also wants to know who has instituted the criminal prosecution in the absence of the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP as the replacement of the former DPP Steve Kayuni has not yet been confirmed by the Public Appointments Committee of Parliament.

The committee also wants the person who leaked the audio to be prosecuted.
