Days after being closed over poor sanitation, Lilongwe City Council has ordered the reopening of Central Poultry Limited.

The Council visited Central Poultry on Tuesday, 3rd January 2023, and discovered that the company had established a dumpsite at its premises which is against the law and was putting people’s lives at risk of cholera disease.

Today, deputy director of preventive health services at the council, Jorlex Kantokoma, inspected the premises, where he has lifted the closure order, upon seeing that the company has removed the dumpsite.

Kantokoma said they will continue to conduct sanitation inspections at the company every month.
