Police in Blantyre have recovered a vehicle belonging to well-known John Gift Mwankhwawa which was stolen on Sunday.

Armed robbers attacked Mwankhwawa at his home and went away with his vehicle mobile phones and other accessories.

Police in Blantyre have confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

“Ref to crime sitrep of 20/2/2022 Robbery with violence, victim Counsel John Gift Mwankhwala who was robbed of his motor vehicle KA1537.

“Be informed that the motor vehicle has been recovered at the premises of Chigodi SDA Church, Kachere area with keys on the ignition key,” reads in part the statement.

Mwankhwawa is yet to comment on the matter.

Recently the country has experienced a sharp rise in crime rate with many cases targeting churches, lawyers and other prominent people in country.
