Lack of infrastructures continues to hamper effort of eliminating adult illiteracy

Stakeholders in the promotion of adult literacy and education have stressed the need for the country to invest in infrastructure for the growth of the sector.

The call has been made as the country is implementing a 2022/2027 national adult literacy and education strategic plan as a mechanism of promoting economic empowerment of the citizenry.

Dyson Mthawanji, Communications and Program officer for DVV international, southern Africa improper infrastructure continues to hamper efforts aimed at encouraging adults to attend the education hence the need for serious intervention to improve the country’s illiterate levels.

Mthawanji however commended government for approving the national adult literacy and education policy which plays an integral role in providing functional skills which contribute to sustainable livelihoods.
