Lack of funding threatens the progress of Last Mile rural Connectivity project

The Treasury has lobbied for funding in the implementation of the Last Mile Rural Connectivity project aimed at easing telecommunication services in rural areas.

The plea has been made following observations that the project scheduled to end by 2025 haw managed to complete twenty eight towers out of the planned one hundred thirty six.

McDonald Mafuta Mwale secretary to the Treasury said there is need for more funding to the project in order to erect towers in areas with low network availability.

Meanwhile Susan Dosi chairperson of the Parliamentary committee on Media and Information has expressed concerns with the low progress in the implementation of the project with is crucial in the implementation of telecommunication services.
