Kenyan man traveled to U.S. and tried hiring hitman to kill wife who got away with his children: Authorities

A 52-year-old Kenyan man, Leonard Thuo Mwithiga, is facing charges in Connecticut for attempting to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife.

Mwithiga allegedly sought the services of an Uber driver, who acted as a confidential informant (CI), to find a hitman.

During recorded conversations, Mwithiga expressed a desire for his wife to be injected with something to make her very sick, resembling cancer.

The victim had previously fled Kenya with their children due to alleged physical abuse and threats from Mwithiga.

He is now charged with criminal attempt murder, conspiracy, and witness intimidation, with a $5 million bond.
