Kasungu District Council is planning to plant its own Soybean processing factory by 2030.
The Council’s Chief Agriculture Officer, Chikumbutso Lionde said that they believe the move shall enhance quality of the processed commodity and ensure it easily fetches better prices on the market.
Lionde disclosed this during a Full Council Meeting on Wednesday.
He also added that the facility will act as off-taker, where farmers will be selling their Soybean at a recommendable price.
Kasungu East lawmaker, who is also First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Madalitso Kazombo commended the plan, saying it is high time farmers made profits for their work.
