A senior High Court judge has been arrested for allegedly transferring the title of a Zambia Army property in Lusaka to the ruling party, the Patriotic Front (PF), without following due process.
According to the police, Judge Wilfred Muma, who is in charge of the Mongu High Court, was charged with willful failure to comply with the law, procedure or guidelines relating to the allocation and disposal of property.
The alleged offence occurred between April and December 2018, when Judge Muma served as the Commissioner of Lands, a position responsible for overseeing land transactions and management.
The police statement did not mention the name of the PF officials involved in the property deal, nor did it disclose the value or size of the property in question.
