Today the High Court in Blantyre is expected to rule on whether to allow new evidence concerning the age of a John Mussa who was recently jailed for eight years for illegally possessing marijuana(Chamba).

Lawyers for the appellant insist that their client John, is 17-years-old and not 19 as was recorded in the magistrate court.

The matter is being presided over by Judge Vikochi Chima.

He was arrested in June this year after he was allegedly found with 78 bags of chamba; a crime that ultimately led to the lengthy jail term.

He is currently being remanded at Blantyre Prison formerly known as Chichiri.
