Impakt Events Management, organisers of the annual Sand Music Festival, says they are working tirelessly behind the scenes to secure deals for a number of international acts to perform at this year’s festival.
Last week, Impakt Events unveiled its first two acts billed to perform during this year’s event, Malawian blossoming R ‘n’ B artist Driemo and Ugandan Lily Kadima.

The company’s spokesperson Laura Banda said the two artists’ deals have been concluded.
“We are working on bringing a couple of international acts to perform at the festival this year. But we are very mindful that we cannot reveal their names at this stage of the process because we are yet to conclude the agreements. But the talks are at an advanced stage,” she said.
Banda said in the coming weeks, Impakt Events will announce contracts that will have been sealed.
During last year’s event at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi, Jamaican reggae icon Gramps Morgan, who was one of the international headliners, said he had adopted the festival and that he will be attending the event annually.
When the organisers were asked if the Jamaican will be among the international acts for this year’s event as he indicated, Banda said the selection of artists is based on who they feel will excite the patrons in that particular year.
She said: “We acknowledge what Gramps said and we are really honoured that such a legendary artist has taken to our festival. He will certainly be welcome as a guest artist not as a headliner.
“Suffice to say, we have not had that discussion with him yet and we will give an update when and if we agree terms with him.”
This year’s SandFest will take place at Kambiri Beach in Salima between September 30 and October 2. Two weeks ago, Impakt Events announced a sponsorship partnership for the festival with FDH Bank plc worth K15 million.
