Human Rights Ambassadors to hold demonstrations over referendum calls

Some Civil Society organizations trading under the banner of Human Right Ambassadors will hold demonstrations on on September 28th, 2022 to push for referendum or resignation of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his Vice Dr. Saulos Chilima.

This has been disclosed in a letter addressed to the Lilongwe District council copied to Police dated September 19, 2022 seen by this publication.

According to the letter, the demonstrations have been organized with an aim of forcing President Chakwera to call for referendum or resign from the High Office.

“We are very much thankful to you for being professional always and we have no vestiges of doubt that will uphold this constitution enriched right for the citizenry to hold office bearers accountable.” reads in part the notice letter of demonstrations.

The peaceful demonstrations will take place in Lilongwe from Wakawaka M1 road passing through Mchesi, Maula round about , Paul gakame road to area 47 interchange to city center through Parliament building then Capita hill to hand over the petition to the Office of president and cabinet.
