Huge Tree Falls On Three Houses Claims One life, Injured Five In Mzuzu

One unidentified person has died while five others have been injured after a tree fell on three houses at Masasa Township in Mzuzu.

Spokesperson for Northern region police, Maurice Chapola, has confirmed the development and said the accident occurred at around 5:00 PM on Tuesday March 19,2024 near Chibuku factory  in the Township.

Chapola has said the deceased is yet to be identified but the injured have been identified as Emmanuel Mhone, 22 years old, Alfred Kumwenda aged 23, Priscilla Longwe, 19 years old, Hyness Chiumia aged 31 and Willard Sikawa, 59 all from Traditional Authority Kabunduri in Nkhatabay district.

Among the five injured, three are in critical condition and are being treated at Mzuzu Central Hospital.

Police have assured the general public to identify the deceased when the investigations are done.
