Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) National Governing Council Member Hophmally Makande has resigned from the party and joined Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Makande’s resignation comes amid infighting in the opposition DPP over leader opposition post in Parliament.

He has since been welcomed in the party today.

Speaking after the ceremony Makande said he has joined MCP because the party has shown that it is laying good governing structures.

Makande has since promised to support President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
