The High Court in Lilongwe is expected to hear evidence from National Crimes Agency officials in a case the former ACB Director General Reyneck Matemba is answering in court.
Matemba is allegedly involved
in awarding of $7,875,000 (about K8.4 billion at the current rate) contract to Xavier Limited to supply 350, 000 food ration packs to Malawi Police Service.
Matemba is also allegedly accused of failure to declare his interest in a board meeting that reviewed and granted a no objection for the Malawi Police Service’s food ration contract despite knowing that the Director of Xavier Limited was Zuneth Sattar.
Initially, Matemba was alleged to have received $10,000 from a British businessperson, Sattar, to influence contracts for his companies.
