Two bridges on the Mangochi-Makanjira road in Malawi have been washed away following heavy rains.

The Lugola and Lilole bridges were destroyed overnight, leaving no road access to and from the area.

This has caused significant disruption to the local community, with people now unable to access the district hospital and businesses.

The Roads Authority spokesperson, Portia Kajanga, has confirmed the news and stated that they are currently exploring alternative solutions to assist people in the area as soon as possible.
