Heavy Police Presence At ESCOM office In Blantyre as Soche Residents Demand Restoration of Power

A heavy police presence has been reported at the ESCOM Power House in Blantyre, where angry residents of Namame in Blantyre South East are holding vigils.

The residents are demanding the restoration of power to their area, which has been without electricity for weeks.

According to reports, the residents are coming from three group village heads, namely Buleya, Jumbe, and Njambe around the Soche area beyond the populous Manje Township.

They have stressed that they will only leave the power house premises on the assurance of the installation of a new power transformer.
