Public Health Experts, Professor Adamson Muula has advised the general public to avoid using herbs as treatment for curing cholera.
According to Muula, it is not safe to use herbs and other fluids that are not scientifically proved as cholera treatment.
Muula indicated that, the well-known treatments for cholera so far is ORS (Oral Rehydration Salts) for mild and moderate cholera and Intravenous (dip) are advised for severe cases.
In addition to that, Professor Muula said that cholera can and will only be improved through access to clean water and hygienic foods.
In his words, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Adrian Chikumbe, warned the sharing of unverified treatments for cholera because it delays patients from getting proper treatments.
