Headteacher awards PSLCE exams best performers at Mbidi Primary School in Zomba

As one way of keeping learners in school, Mbidi Primary School Headteacher Stella Phiri has awarded standard 8 learners with certificate for performing well in the just released Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) examination.

This is the first of its kind for learners from Mbidi Primary School, which is located in Namiwawa Zone in Zomba Rural, near Jali area to be recognized in a such manner.

A total of 50 standard 8 learners sat for 2022/2023 PSLCE examination and 48 passed representing a pass rate of 98 percent.

Out of the 48, 22 learners have been selected to various Community Day Secondary Schools in the District.

During the ceremony which was held last week Friday, two learners were awarded with certificate of participation despite failing the examinations while the rest received PSLCE certificate.

Speaking in an interview with faceofmalawi Phiri said she organized the ceremony with an aim of encouraging those learners who have not completed Standard 8 to stay in school.

“I organized this function to appreciate the outgoing standard 8 learners for remaining in school for the past 8 years. It has been a long journey and other learners dropped-out of school due to pregnancy and other related challenges,” said Phiri.

She then urged new standard 8 learners at the school to work extra hard ahead of the exams next year.

Meanwhile, Parents and guardians have hailed Phiri for the gesture, saying this will motivate learners to remain in school.
