Zambia President Hakainde Hichilema continues to receive praises from people across his country over his respect toward chiefs.
Over the weekend Hakainde Hichilema attended Shimunenga Traditional Ceremony of the Ila people of Southern Province in Zambia.
Hichilema was spotted at the event kneeling before His Royal Highness Chief Mungaila when greeting him.
Writing on his official facebook page after the ceremony Hakainde Hichilema hailed the cordial relationship which is there between chiefs and his administration.
“This afternoon in Namwala, we were greatly honoured and privileged to have joined His Royal Highness Chief Mungaila to celebrate the colorful Shimunenga Traditional Ceremony of the Ila people of Southern Province.
“Shimunenga is an age-old ceremony in which the Ila speaking people pay their respect to their ancestors, an occasion that culminates into an exuberant display of their history and cattle wealth,” wrote Hakainde Hichilema.
He added: “We thanked all traditional chiefs for being the custodians of our heritage and culture and encouraged them to continue working to promote peace and national unity.”
