President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia has expressed shock over the death of over 300 Malawians due to Cyclone Freddy.
In a statement posted on his official facebook page Hakainde Hichilema said the Zambian government stands in solidarity with Malawi during this national disaster.
“To our brother H.E President Chakwera and the people of Malawi, we express our deepest sympathies over the horrific loss of life and damage to property caused by Tropical Cyclone Freddy. Zambia stands in solidarity with Malawi during this national disaster,” wrote Hakainde Hichilema.
Hakainde Hichilema has since donated assorted items worthy MK1.2 billion.
“We wish to update the nation that we have provided ZMW20 million in humanitarian assistance to the people of Malawi who are under distress from floods caused by cyclone Freddy. The cyclone had claimed over 200 lives and many others displaced.
“We urge everyone to keep our brothers and sisters in prayer,” said HH.
Meanwhile, President Chakwera is cheering flood victims in Chikwawa and Nsanje.
