Some people in Nsanje are proposing a name change for the district, claiming the current name is associated with negative connotations which they are convinced is the root of failure to achieve meaningful development.
The call has been was made Saturday at Khulubvi Cultural and Heritage festival which was held in the district for the first time.
One of the festival coordinators, Eric Trinta, argued that such a name is associated with jealousy, proposing for another name that can ignite positive thinking among people citing ‘Khulubvi’ which could help Shire Valley communities earn wealth through tourism.
Traditional Authority Chimombo of the district, said as traditional leaders they will discuss the matter at depth for a resolution.
