Govt Takes On Retired Teachers Clinging To Institutional Houses

The Ministry of Education has expressed worry with the tendency of some teachers who tend to cling to government houses despite retiring from national duty on the pretext of waiting for the gratuity.

This has been disclosed in a statement that Emmanuel Luhanga for Education Division Manager (EDM) from the North has offered to educational managers in the country.

The statement says when a teacher retires from the teaching service he or she is expected to vacate institutional houses immediately or within three months upon retirement.

The statement continues to say that staying in an institutional house beyond the period of three months when getting monthly pension is illegal and unethical hence tantamount to litigations.

The ministry has since asked the concerned teachers to vacate the houses before appropriate action is taken.
