Govt Seeking Aid For Dzaleka Settlers

The Ministry of Homeland and Security has issued an urgent call for assistance, as the World Food Programme’s aid to Dzaleka Refugee Camp has been reduced by 50 percent.
This appeal comes at time, with the World Food Program in Malawi announced a significant funding shortfall which has compelled them to slash food rations by fifty percent for over 50,000 individuals residing in the country’s sole refugee camp, Dzaleka effective 1 August.
However, Minister Of Homeland security Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has expressed that the decision taken by the WFP is impacting government directly as a result he has apealed support from donors and other entities.
Ng’oma further said Malawi’s ability to provide sustenance to Dzaleka Refugee camp will only extend until December pressing need for collaborative efforts to ensure the well-being of the camp’s residents.
