Information Minister Gospel Kazako has said that government is aware that some people perpetuating corruption are working towards the downfall of Director General of Anti- Corruption Bureau Martha Chizuma.
Kazako has told journalists in Lilongwe that President Lazarus Chakwera believes in Chizuma even at a time parliament had initially rejected her.
Last week, a grouping under the banner ‘mzika zokhudzidwa’ held demonstrations in Lilongwe to force Chakwera to fire Chizuma within 7 days over leaked audio scandal.
As of today, 8 days have gone without any action from authorities.
The grouping is set to hold vigils starting from today onwards under the same issue.
The leader of the grouping, Redson Munlo said they have resorted to holding vigils at Parliament from tomorrow Wednesday due to failure by President Chakwera to address their concerns.
They have threatened to close Anti-Corruption offices if no action will be taken.
