Government needs 1 billion to repatriate illegal immigrants

The Malawi Government requires about one billion kwacha to facilitate the repatriation of over nine hundred undocumented immigrants currently held in the country’s prisons.

The sentiments have been made due to the escalating number of illegal immigrants entering the nation, aided by unpatriotic Malawians.

Vivian Kasambo Head of Research and Planning for the Department of Immigration said the majority of these illegal immigrants are typically deported by air, thereby necessitating additional funding to carry out the repatriation process.

Kasambo emphasized that government is striving to secure the necessary funds to effectively deport these illegal immigrants.
