Government concerned with chiefs’ death

Ministry of local government, Charles Makanga has said is deeply concerned with the number of deaths of chief in the country, especially this year.

He said this is leaving many people and communities in fear and in extreme poverty.

Makanga said this at the funeral ceremony of chief Kachenga of Balaka who died on Monday, 30 October 2023.

This year alone the country has lost over five Chiefs.

Recently, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera directed that all chiefs who are unwell will be taken care of by government.

Government then urged District Commissioners to make proper arrangements with all royal families across the country.
