Former State House SPY and social media activist Gerald Chavez Kampanikiza has been ordered to K4.5m for defaming Eng. Vitumbiko AZ Mumba in a social media post.

This follows a 23rd September 2021 High Court conviction of Kampanikiza for defamation.

In his assessment, Lilongwe High Court registrar, Brian Sambo says he would not grant K18m as prayed for by Eng. Mumba but instead K4.5m.

Eng. Mumba says all he needed was to have his name cleared and “I have since instructed my lawyers to channel the payment to the Students Christian Organisation of Malawi (SCOM) North account” as donation when Kampanikiza makes the payment.
