Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) parliamentarian George Chaponda, has said that there is rumour that state wants to arrest former first lady, Getrude Mutharika.

Chaponda made the remarks during a DPP presser hosted party’s president Peter Mutharika in Mangochi.

Chaponda, who did not give reasons for the alleged arrest, said arresting Getrude Mutharika would be persecution and “ife sitidzalola”.

The statement is coming in the middle of high level arrests being made by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Fiscal Police and other law enforcement bodies in the country.
