The Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate’s Court has granted bail to former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Henry Mathanga.
Mathanga was arrested on allegations of taking part in falsifying documents to International Monetary Fund (IMF).
His lawyer Powell Nkhutabasa has confirmed of the development, saying his client handed himself to police on Tuesday.
Mathanga becomes the third accused to be arrested on the matter.
The other accused in the case are former RBM governor Dalitso Kabambe and former Finance Minister Joseph Mwanamvekha who are answering to charges bordering on abuse of office and false accounting.
