Death has been announced of the former Mayor of Blantyre City, John Chikakwiya ages 73 who battling stroke for some years.

Confirming the sad incident, a relation Chitani Chigumula said Chikakwaiya died yesterday night at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.

The funeral arrangements have been made, with the burial scheduled to take place on Sunday at HHI Cemetery in Blantyre.

Survived by his wife and four children, Chikakwiya’s legacy of service and leadership will be remembered by the community.
