Forestry Officials Swept by Flooding water in Dedza, One still Missing

Forestry official Gerald Kamanga has been confirmed dead while the other Gift Chimulu is still missing after the vehicle they were traveling is presumed to have been swept away by flash floods at Namanungwi River at village head Bikaele under Group Village head Njuchi in the area of Traditional Authority Kaphuka close to Kalinyeke Tollgate in Dedza.

They were both working at Forestly Headquarters in Lilongwe and the accident happened in the early hours of Monday, 14th March 2022.

Their vehicle got swept away to Linthipe River and the body of Gerald Kamanga was found further downstream in Linthipe River away from the vehicle under Group Village head Kuntelela and has been ferried from Dedza District Hospital mortuary to his home in Kasungu for burial tomorrow, 16th March 2022.

Kamanga worked as District Forestly Officer for Mwanza District before getting posted to Forestly Headquarters.

Meanwhile, the search and rescue team is still on the ground looking for the missing Gift Chimulu who hails from Nkhotakota.
