Flames to start camp in preparation for 2026 FIFA world cup Qualifiers next month

The Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, are expected to start camping today in Blantyre in preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers next month.

According to Flames Coach, Patrick Mabedi, he announced a 31-man squad which includes nine players from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, eight from Silver Strikers and six from Mighty Wanderers, among others.

Gomezgani Zakazaka FAM’s publicist, said the camping will be two-week-long in Blantyre before moving to Lilongwe on the 27 May, 2024.

Zakazaka further said that a list of foreign-based players will be released later.

Meanwhile, On 6 June 2024, Flames will face Sao Tome & Principe at the Bingu National Stadium and on 10 June the team will travel to battle for three points against Equatorial Guinea in Malabo.

Flames are in Group H and rank fourth behind Namibia with three points and only goals separate the two
