Following the victory over Warriors of Zimbabwe at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon, Malawians are optimistic that The Flames will today win against Senegal.
Malawi which is in group B has played two games of which it lost to Guinea by 1 goal to nil and came back victorious over Zimbabwe by 2 goals to 1.
As the National Team is expected to face Senegal this evening, Flames’ coach Meke Mwase said they are not afraid of the names in the Senegal squad as their focus is on winning the game.
“We want to finish the group stage on a winning note even though we know our opponents are tough. This gives us motivation to even work harder. I told my players they have got an opportunity to make history,” said Mwase.
According to Mwase despite missing one player, Flames’ captain Limbikani Mzanva Senegalese must come prepared as they will not have a smooth ride as there are many surprises in the AFCON tournament.
Despite the fact that Senegal has star players, Mwase said they have a game plan to surprise them and win adding that Flames fight to qualify.
“It may look like a huge task but we are ready for the challenge ahead,” said Mwase.
Meanwhile, the Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera has pledge to give K1 million to Flames players and K500, 000 to reserve players if they manage to beat Senegal and proceed to round of 16.
