Five Prisoners Selected to Public Universities

National Prisons Service Public Relations Officer Chimwemwe Shaba has said at least five inmates from Prisons Reformatory Schools have been selected to pursue various courses in the country’s public universities.

According to Shaba, the five are among other students who sat previous Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).

“In the just released list of students selected to pursue various courses in the Malawi’s public tertiary institutions, the Prisons’ reformatory Schools have sent five of their students who sat for the previous Malawi School Certificate of Education examinations to various institutions of higher learning,” said Shaba.

The five are;

Justin Shaba. Mzuzu University, Bachelors of Arts (Theology and Religious Studies), Alexious Machilika. University of Malawi, Bachelors of Arts (Education Language), Norald Mwale. Natural Resources College, Diploma in Agriculture, Wisdom Mwakabagha, University of Malawi, Bachelors of Science (Education Mathematics), Peter Kuyokwa, Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences, Bachelors of Arts (Journalism).

Human rights advocate Victor Mhango of Human Rights Education, Advice and Assistance (Chreaa) described the development as great.
