Five people arrested for killing suspected thief in Nkhotakota

Police in Nkhotakota have arrested five people for allegedly killing a 22 year-old man Saidi Nkhumbayapalasa in a mob justice incident.

Nkhotakota Police Station Public Relations Officer, Paul Malimwe, has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Malimwe, Nkhumbayapalasa was allegedly killed for stealing a mobile phone in Kapongola Village in the district.

He said the suspects are three men and two women, namely, Chikumbutso Chithumba aged 30, Mike Chithumba aged 33, Samson Bizwick aged 21, 41-year-old Benitala Malandi and Eveles Esau aged 46.

They have all been charged with murder.
