Five ex-prisoners have been apprehended by the Lingadzi police station in Lilongwe on suspicion of involvement in a series of robberies, particularly in the area 43 of the city.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Billy Chimbonga, the officer in charge at Lingadzi police station, confirmed the arrests and announced the recovery of stolen property worth approximately MK15,000,000.
The recovered items include plasma TV screens, laptop computers, and home theaters.
Furthermore, Assistant Commissioner Chimbonga revealed that two of the arrested individuals were among the prisoners recently granted a presidential pardon as part of Easter holiday celebrations.
Efforts to apprehend additional suspects are currently underway.
Meanwhile, Chimbonga has urged residents from the areas surrounding Lingadzi police station, whose belongings were stolen, to visit the police station and identify their property.
