Five arrested for Theft of 930 litres of Diesel in Chikwawa

Police in Chikwawa have arrested five people for allegedly Stealing 930 litres of Diesel valued at K1,785,600 meant for Conduril construction company which is constructing Shire valley canal.

Sergeant Dickson Matemba Public Relations Officer Chikwawa Police Station has identified  the suspects  as Domingo Mzungu, Enock Belena , Mustaf Siliya, Innocent Swachi Jimmy Mchiza.

The five were arrested on the night of 14 April,2023 following a joint patrol carried out by Chikwawa Police Station Officers and Ndakuona operation team under South East Region headquarters.

During the night patrol on that particular day, Officers were patrolling along Kapichira road where Conduril construction company is situated and later on met with a Minibus Registration number TO9507 which was driven by Innocent Swachi and after being searched they found 32 Jerry cans full of diesel in the said minibus that led to their arrest.

Upon being interviewed they admitted that they got that Diesel fuel from an operator who works with Conduril company and he is at large.

Manhunt is underway to arrest the machine operator and the arrested suspects will be taken to court very soon to answer the charge of theft.

Meanwhile Police in the District have intensified security by conducting maximum patrols during day and night towards materials meant for construction company which is constructing Shire Valley canal.

Domingo zungu  is 30 years old, Enock Belena is 21 years old both hails from Sadulo Village, Mustaf Siliya is 35 yeras old, Innocent Swachi is 21 years old  of Lauji Village and Jimmy Mchiza is 43 years old hails from Kabudula Village all under Traditional Authority Katunga in Chikwawa Districts.
