Finance Minister Simplex Chithyola will on Monday announce measures to cushion Malawians and stimulate economic growth following the 44 percent devaluation of the Malawi Kwacha.

Secretary to the Treasury MacDonald Mafuta Mwale has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to this publication.

According to Mwale, the briefing is scheduled to commence at 9am.

Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor Wilson Banda announced the devaluation yesterday.

It is with effect from today, November 9, 2023.
