Onneile Molapong (36) of Bokaa in the Kgatleng District was shot dead on her birthday – the 16th of September 2022. Molapong was killed by her cop colleague, Baleseng Jupiter Moroke at Sese Veterinary gate near Serule village.

When announcing the horror incident this past weekend, Botswana Police Service (BPS) said that after killing Molapong, the 34-year-old Moroke of Ramokgwebana shot and injured another police officer, a 56-year -Sergeant using a service rifle.

Moroke then killed himself using the same rifle. Speaking to The Midweek Sun in Bokaa this week, Molapong family spokesperson Conty Molapong, said that the Police came on Saturday morning to announce that their daughter was shot and killed by a colleague while on a work trip in Sese.

The family is stunned!

“We really do not know why he killed her. We do not know the man. We have never seen him before. The 16th was her birthday, she was celebrating her day, but it ended in pain for her,” Molapong cried.

He explained that Onneile is a divorcee having separated from her ex-husband early this year.

“We are not aware if she was dating this man or not. We await the police to tell us what exactly happened. She was a cop stationed in Palapye. She has been living with her two children there. One is doing Standard 6 and the other is three years old,” he said.

Molapong told this publication that the family is shattered. They have known Onneile to be nothing but a very obedient child. She worked hard to earn her position as a police officer.

They knew her to excel in everything she touched.

Funeral arrangements are underway in Bokaa and if all goes according to plan, Onneile will be buried this weekend.
