FDH Bank has given 10 shopping vouchers worth K60,000 each and 10 fuel vouchers worth K40,000 each to some 20 lucky customers in the first draw of the Swipe and Win Promotion.
The promotion, which started on December 9 2021, requires that the banks’ customers should pay in strategic merchant shops and filling stations using an ATM card.
The bank’s digital banking sales senior manager Yamikani Mbawala said the aim was to motivate customers to use digital payments.
“There was a directive by the central bank that most merchants should have one digital payment system. Therefore, we deployed our POS machines across the country to discourage people from carrying cash,” Mbawala said.
The bank touted digital payment as the safest and most convenient way of making payments in bulk and in small amounts.
Mbawala added that the response to their promotion has been good as evidenced byendless entries of customers.
“We are happy that people are now getting into the habit of paying for things without carrying cash and understand that their card is enough for them. It also helps the shops because the money goes directly into their account,” Mbawala said.
