Kasungu Senior Resident Magistrate Biar Kamanga has sentenced a 30-year-old man, Joseph Phiri, to 21 years imprisonment for defiling his biological baby aged three months and an eight year-old step daughter respectively.

Police Prosecutor Sub-Inspector Dorothy Kanzangaza Chilinde told the court that the accused defiled the baby at Zanda village in the district in September last year.

The accused’s wife had asked the father to look after the baby when she went to visit her mother in-law.

The second victim, the step daughter and was defiled in the bush when she accompanied the dad.

Phiri comes from Zanda Village in Traditional Authority Kaluluma in Kasungu District.
