FAM Bans MAFCO’s Innocent Kafunda for Assaulting Match Officials

MAFCO’s Innocent Kafunda, found guilty of assaulting match officials during a Castel Challenge Cup match, has been banned from football activities for a year by the FAM Disciplinary Committee.

Alfred Gunda, FAM General Secretary, announced the decision, which also includes a K500,000 fine imposed on MAFCO for failing to control their players’ behavior.

Despite being charged on December 12, neither MAFCO nor Kafunda responded to the allegations.

Sports Analyst Dan Chemis commended the move, emphasizing the importance of discipline, especially for a military side like MAFCO.

Another pundit, Kim Kamau, hailed the decision as a deterrent to potential offenders, stressing the need for respect towards referees.

The Castel Challenge Cup, which ran from July to December 2023, concluded with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets emerging as champions.
