One person is reportedly dead while six others have been injured after a tree fell on them at Masasa area in Mzuzu City.

Northern Region Police spokesperson, Maurice Chapola has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
Chapola said the tree has also fallen over some three households.

The names of those injured are Emmanuel Mhone, 22, Alfred Kumwenda, 23, Priscilla Longer, 19, Hyness Chiumia, 41 and Willard Sikawa, 59.

Masasa Ward Councillor, Manson Waya said the tree just fell on its own at a place many people conduct some business activities.

Mzuzu City has been receiving rains for some days now.
