A man aged 55-year-old masquerading lawyer, has been arrested in Nkhata-Bay for allegedly stealing K10, 000 from a woman by tricking her that he would assist in securing bail for her husband who is currently on remand at the district’s Prison for burglary and theft.

Nkhata-Bay police spokesperson, Sergeant Kondwani James has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

According to James, the suspect, Ludovico Banda is alleged to have committed the offense on 18th March, this year and on March 21; he proceeded to prison to meet the said remanded suspect for discussions on the matter where he got arrested.

He added that while holding talks with the suspect, prosecutors who were at the same prison for other errands noticed some fishy business that prompted them to ask Banda, who failed to prove himself as certified legal practitioner which led to his arrest.
