Musician Faith Mussa has celebrated the blessings that God has given him in his life with a single titled Mwandiwolotsa.

Mussa told The Nation that the piece is basically a song of celebration.

“The song is coming from a good place. I realise that a lot has happened and we have triumphed without looking back and thanking God for the victories,” he said.

Mussa also said the song is a song of encouragement.

“I recognise that things cannot be rosy all the time, but despite all that, God’s love abounds,” he said.

The Mdidi hitmaker said he has featured City Cultural Troupe on the traditional drums and Chingalire Dance Troupe for the video.

He said: “Through the song, I am also just taking a chance to show how we can blend our traditional music elements with modern sounds. I have blended modern drums with traditional drums influences featuring mbalule and mipanje from Lilongwe. I have also mixed the sound of trumpet with badza [traditional saxophone] carefully crafted by ethnomusicologist Chavalamangwere Nkanthama of Ntchisi.”

Mussa also featured long time friend and collaborator rapper Suffix on the song.

“I have been on his three other songs and collaboration with him on my song was long overdue. We have had a great time on this track and I think it will be one of my most exciting releases,” he said.

On his part, Suffix said it was a pleasure working with Faith Mussa once again.

“The song means a lot to me. I have been in a bad space because of the death of my mother. I used my part to remind myself and others that despite some challenges, we live in a peaceful environment with no wars,” he said.

Suffix said the song also reminds everyone that God is graceful and He helps anyone regardless of their social standing in society.

Mwandiwolotsa also features pianist Gresham Mokwena and trumpet player Matt Alegeo. The song is officially out today alongside the video.
